Billy Ray Nation, 85 passed away Sunday March 12, 2017, surrounded by family at Princeton Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth Lewis Nation of 56 years, daughters, Joy (Terry) Boley, Nancy (Steve) Woods, Amy (Trent) Howell, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Wesley Nation and May Campbell Nation, a brother, Euell Nation, sisters, Jeffie Nation Dodd, Barbara Grace Nation Malone and Nadine Nation Cunningham.
Bill was born December 18, 1931 in Gardendale, Alabama. He graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1950 and operated the family Well Drilling business until the 1970's when he co-founded Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
Bill loved life! He loved travel and good food. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, and Nascar but his most beloved passion was Alabama Football. While he was able he never missed a game, following the tide high and low. He so wanted to see another championship.
The family would like to express our thanks to Hospice Services of Alabama and to our extended family, Adrena Austin, Felicia Green, Marquita Green, Carolyn Moorer who have given their care and love to Bill. We love and appreciate you all.
Visitation will be Wednesday March 15 beginning at 11:00 AM with Chapel Services starting at 12:00 PM. Burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
